Mini Monthly Writers' Retreat at Teche Center for the Arts

The Teche Center for the Arts in Breaux Bridge hosts its Mini Monthly Writers' Retreats on the first Tuesday of every month. Poet and author Clare L. Martin facilitates the workshops, which run from 6pm-8pm, with a suggested donation of $5 per session.

Louisiana Book Festival

The annual Louisiana Book Festival features hundreds of authors, poets and panelists. Book festival events include workshops and Q&A's with authors. This national award-winning event offers unique opportunities for book lovers of all ages to interact with exceptional writers, poets, and storytellers and enjoy an inspiring variety of book-related activities, exhibitions, and demonstrations.

In advance of the Louisiana Book Festival is a spate of workshops with renowned authors, covering all sorts of writing genres. They're great opportunities to spend a few hours in  the presence of some of the festival's distinguished guests!

East Baton Rouge Parish Library

The Library also hosts book clubs in different branches around the parish. Call your local branch for more information or contact the Main Library at (225) 231-3750. Our book clubs are for patrons of all ages, from kids and teens to adults. 

One book club offered at the Bluebonnet Regional Branch is the Southern Writers Book Club held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 2-3:30 p.m. Contact (225) 753-1170 for more information. 

The Tennessee Williams and New Orleans Literary Festival

The annual Tennessee Williams and New Orleans Literary Festival returns to the French Quarter March 20th-24th, 2024, with workshops, contests, musicians, authors, and other artists.

EBRPL Author Illustrator Program

Every fall we host an annual Author/Illustrator Program; this year will mark our 36th year. The Author/Illustrator Program affords teachers, librarians, parents, and other interested adults an excellent opportunity for an exchange of ideas with prominent writers, artists, scholars, and performers of literature for children and young adults. Some notable artists in the field of literature who have been featured include Patricia and Fred McKissack, E. L. Konigsburg, Jack Gantos, Avi, Stephen Kellogg, Paula Danziger, Mercer Mayer, and Richard Peck.
