There are many issues in today's world that effect all nations and through international cooperation, countries can work together to find solutions. The United States was one of the founding members of the United Nations in 1945 and the influence and impact of the organization has grown continually. The organization is involved in a wide range of sectors from peace and security to tackling climate change, famine and disease.

The United Nations is subdivided into a number of agencies set up to tackle different issues; two of the highest profile of these are UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund) and UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.)
