Exceptional Lives – This resource highlights various developmental disabilities and helpful resources to aid with each. In their focus on Autism, they discuss what individuals and guardians can do after high school.

Is your autistic child getting ready to finish high school? Here are steps to help them prepare for life after high school:

  1. Work with your child’s IEP team to create a transition plan to help your child get ready for a new job, college, or living environment. 
  2. Explore whether your child may qualify for SSI when they turn 18. If they already get SSI, make sure you know what you need to do so their benefits continue into adulthood.
  3. If your child will need support around decision-making as an adult, explore options of guardianship or appointing a conservator.

Career Cruising (Xello) is a meant for K-12, but can be a valuable resource in figuring out what careers are compatible with your interests. It will also provide suggestions on achieving your career goals.

Statista offers a way to view stats on various markets in a visual manner that brings more meaning to just looking at the number trends.

Not sure which hobby to do or which craft to tackle, no worries! The Craftsy (1 week pass) and Creativebug (one course at a time) digital resources offer free course and tutorials on any craft you can imagine.

Hiveclass – Build your fine and gross motor skills through the various classes offered through Hiveclass! There are even mindfulness and breathing courses to help you find peace and focus.

Libby (Overdrive) – This resource provides digital and audio options for most book titles. The user can also adjust the size and type of font used to best suit their needs (there’s even a dyslexia font!). The background and font colors can also be adjusted to not be too harsh.

World Food A to Z – Struggling with what to cook? This resource offers various recipes that can be chosen by selecting different areas from around the world. What makes this resource stand out is the ingredient look-up option that lets you select an ingredient and provides a list of recipes that you can make with it.

Volunteers of America operates seven community homes in the metropolitan areas providing individuals with 24-hour support and supervision by Direct Support Professionals.
