Use a family group sheet to track a husband and wife and all of their children. It is useful to fill out a family group sheet for each census enumeration in which a family appears so that you can compare the ages and birth order of children listed in the household.
A research calendar tracks which sources you reviewed and what information you found therein. A research calendar can help you recall where you located a particular fact n case you need to verify or question it at a later date.
