Hermione Museum
Antebellum home features an exhibit on Madame C.J. Walker, the daughter of former slaves in Madison Parish, who became the nation's first female millionaire. Located in Tallulah.
Arna Bontemps African American Heritage Museum
Restored childhood home of Arna Bontemps - poet, author, anthologist, and librarian - who was considered the leading authority of the Harlem Renaissance. Located in Alexandria.
Cane River Creole National Historic Park-Creole Center
The vibrant African American communities in this region trace two hundred years of cultural history to the land on Cane River. A National Park Service Area in the Natchitoches vicinity.
St. Augustine Catholic Church
Established on the banks of Cane River in 1803. Believed to be the first Catholic church in the US that was built and supported by people of color. Located in Isle Brevelle near Natchitoches.
Melrose Plantation
Built by Marie Therese Coincoin, a free Creole, this plantation is known for its buildings and its history. Located outside Natchitoches.

Agricultural Museums

State Oil & Gas Museum
Chronicles the growth of Oil City, LA with exhibits featuring the Caddo Indians and a variety of early oil-field equipment. Visit the oil derrick & historic boomtown buildings just outside the museum. Located in Oil City.
Cotton Museum
Dedicated to preserving the history and heritage of cotton cultivation and its influence on life in Louisiana. Located in Lake Providence.
LA State Exhibit Museum
Highlights 18 world-renowned beeswax dioramas depicting Poverty Point, LA, wildlife and agriculture. The museum also features frescoes by Conrad Albrizio, an Indian Gallery, and rotating exhibits. Located in Shreveport.
Southern Forest Heritage Museum
This museum preserves the logging heritage of LA. Visit the sawmill, commisary, and various outbuildings.

Museums

Interpretative and interactive exhibits focusing on the history, music and culture of the Louisiana-Mississippi Delta region. The Delta Music Museum is located in Ferriday -- hometown of Jerry Lee Lewis, Mickey Gilley, evangelist Jimmy Swaggart, and Gen. Claire Chennault.

Biedenharn Museum & Gardens
The Biedenharn Museum is housed in the family home of Joseph Biedenharn, first bottler of Coca-Cola. Features a Bible Museum and ElSong Gardens, a botanical showplace.

Chennault Aviation & Military Museum
Gen. Claire Lee Chennault, a LA native son, was a tactical genius whose aerial combat methods are STILL in use. The museum preserves his story and the story of Selman Field Navigation School.
