CC Lockwood has long been regarded as one of the finest wildlife photographers in the US. His pictures of Louisiana landscapes, plants and animals are incredibly beautiful.
New Orleans native, Robert Rucker, was known for his paintings of steamboats, New Orleans scenes, and Louisiana landscapes. He designed textiles and worked as a medical artist for Tulane University's Medical School.
Frank Hayden, Southern University's first Distinguished Professor, was a Tennessee native who came to Baton Rouge to teach at Southern University. His graceful sculptures can be found in public spaces across Baton Rouge.
Emerson Bell's work runs the gamut from bronze and wood sculpture to oil painting. He was also a jazz saxophonist and generally a man-about-town. Bell worked with another BR artist, Frank Hayden, and also had a deep friendship with SU's legendary jazz teacher, Alvin Batiste.
