Baton Rouge Astronomical Society

B.R.A.S. is an organization for people of the Baton Rouge area with an interest in amateur astronomy.  They offer programs and events for people of all experience levels. 

LIGO

The Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) is a facility dedicated to the detection of cosmic gravitational waves and the measurement of these waves for scientific research. The Livingston Parish facility is one of two widely separated installations within the United States, operated in unison as a single observatory. Check with the Ligo Science Education Center for visiting times or to schedule a field trip.

Highland Road Park Observatory

The Highland Road Park Observatory hosts a Friday night lecture series, sky viewing and a Stargazers summer camp.  Check their website's calendar for these and other special events.
