Patrons of the Public Library (POPL): Home

POPL: The Patrons of the Public Library is a non-profit organization, which supports the work of the East Baton Rouge Parish Library, both financially and through volunteer efforts.

What POPL Does

The annual Author/Illustrator Workshop and the Summer Reading Club are just two of the many programs which the Patrons of the Public Library supports with volunteer efforts and financial assistance. In 2000, the Patrons sponsored the first Book Sale to benefit the Library. Some of the new and used books that are donated to the Library, but not needed in the collection, were offered for sale. Since 2006, monthly book sales of gift books have been held at Recycled Reads: 3434 North Blvd, Baton Rouge. LA 70806.

The Patrons help to support programs and events by purchasing special materials not provided for in the Library budget. In addition, the organization supports the campaign for passage of the Library Tax.
