Mid City Micro-Con 2024: About

Vision & Mission

Mid City Micro-Con Mission Statement:

Mid City Micro-Con is a celebration of the diversity of comic book characters, creators and their fans. The event provides a free, inclusive opportunity for new and lifelong fans to find themselves in the world of comics- both on the page and behind the scenes. We strive to amplify the voices of creators who challenge the status quo, especially those who have been historically underrepresented in the comic book industry, and local creators from Baton Rouge and Louisiana. Unlike many comic book conventions, Mid City Micro-Con does not charge a table fee to vendors, thereby allowing more freelance, independent, and self-published creators a space to showcase their work.

Mid City Micro-Con Vision Statement:

We envision a community empowered not only in artistic endeavors, but also in life.  We believe in the transformative power of positive representation. From the incredible work of our creators to the fictional tales of heroic characters, residents of Baton Rouge and beyond will be inspired to pursue their goals no matter the obstacle. Community members from all walks of life will find common ground in their shared enjoyment of comics and fan culture, while creators and other vendors will reach a new fan base, resulting in broader exposure for their work and greater recognition of Baton Rouge as a cultural destination.
