Makerspace Open Source Software

The open source movement and Maker Community have quite of bit of intersecting interests. Both communities rely on the sharing o f knowledge and innovation for the development of products that are more efficient, resilient, and effective functionality. Open source bonus - the knowledge and access are FREE! For many makers, the cost of software and equipment is prohibitive. With library and community Makerspaces available, we all have the potential to push our creative potential!

To help you get started, we have compiled a list of open source software to meet a variety of your Makerspacer needs! We have also included links to online training and tutorials for each open source software listed. You can download them for free at home, or come into the library and use our computers. Click the tabs in this box to explore software for each design goal, from 3D and graphic design to audio and video editing.

Be sure to keep an eye on The Source library publication and our upcoming Makerspace Programs Calendar for announcements about upcoming RCB Makerspace classes and badging opportunities too!

Let the learning and making begin!
