Makerspace Materials & Costs

Interested in tinkering at the Makerspace?

It's easy!

Come in during Open Time or get a badge on our various pieces of equipment so you can reserve time to complete your projects without interruption.

During your visit to the Makerspace, you can use available upcycled materials, donations, and project scraps for free! Additionally, for some of the Makerspace equipment, there is a maximum daily material amount provided to patrons on each visit. For example, each patron is allowed to make five (5) buttons a day during their time in the Makerspace. The materials used beyond the maximum daily material amount are charged, at cost, to the patron's account.  This process is similar to the maximum daily limit for printing color copies at the library.

Some of the equipment does not have a maximum daily material amount, such as the 3D printers. Materials for these machines are charged, at cost, for any amount used during the patron's time at the Makerspace. The cost is set at $0.05 / gram.

The library also provides materials to patrons, at cost, such as heat press vinyl, tote bags, shirts, acrylic, and MDF board for the laser cutter. The Makerspace Consumables document, linked below, outlines the cost of consumables at the Makerspace. If you have materials of your own you would like to use for your project, please be sure they are approved materials that will work with and not damage the Makerspace equipment.

If you have questions about the materials you plan to bring in to use, please email questions and material specifications to the RCB Makerspace staff at rcbmakerspace@ebrpl.com
