Are you a RCB Makerspacer yet?

Pathways to become a RCB Makerspacer!

How do you get badged on the Makerspace equipment? There are two pathways to prepare to be badged:

  1. In-person Badging Classes
  2. Self-Study online

Both pathways require patrons to pass a Makerspace practical project make. Essentially, we want to see you shine on your own! You should be able to make a project from start to finish without staff support and hitting each machine's benchmark checklist along the way (basic machine operation and software knowledge). During the practical, you CAN use the equipment specific Badging Manuals to assist you, as they are available for all patrons using the Makerspace at anytime.

To use the Makerspace, patrons are also expected to have a basic, working understanding of Makerspace Procedures, Polices, Operations (e.g. check-in and check-out procedures, how to obtain/cost of more materials, etc.), Workspace Safety and Ethics.

To prepare for your Makerspace Badging Practical, you can (1) take an in-person Badging Course, or (2) use the online, equipment-specific Badging Manual and Badging Quiz, for self-paced study and practice. See our handy flowchart!

After completing a make from start to finish, without staff support, you will earn your Beginner Makerspacers Badge. As our Makerspace community continues to build its skillset and increase interest in a variety of equipment and processes, we will continue to offer more advanced badging options, so, stay tuned!

RCB Makerspacers can reserve time!

Reserve time on equipment as a Badged Patron, or RCB Makerspacer! See the Badging options and procedures on this page to learn more.
